Although still relatively new on the miniature fashion doll market, the Checkerboard Dawn dolls offered little girls (and collectors as well!) a boatload of fashions to enjoy. Most of these fashions use glitzy, shiny fabrics; very few are what I would call "casual" outfits. The first release of fashions by Checkerboard were meant to be a retro-look wardrobe for the 30th Anniversary reproduction Dawn dolls. Three fashions were introduced:
Gold Au Go-Go
In the Spotlight
Chain 'Er Up Again
As you can see, "Chain 'Er Up Again" is based on the original "Chain 'Er Up", and "Gold Au Go-Go" is simply "Silver Au Go-Go" done in gold lame. "In the Spotlight" borrows from the simple A-line style evening dresses (like "Silver Starlight" and "Shocker Frocker"), with the faux fur stole added for elegance.

After these three fashions were produced for the Anniversary line, Checkerboard pretty much forgot all about supporting the re-issues of Dawn, Angie, Glori and Dale, and concentrated on their "Playline" dolls --- Dawn, Macy, Denise and Shannon. Even the Holiday and Bridal dolls which followed were modeled on the newly-sculpted features of the Playline dolls, and not the Anniversary series.
The new dolls released by Checkerboard were each given two stock fashions in their packaging. These fashions were color-coordinated, and meant to be mixed and matched.

Macy's stock fashions
There were other stock fashions, included with the specialty dolls shown below:
Karma Cool stock fashions
Go 'n Glow stock fashions
Tee-Time Denise and Maura
Shannon's name was changed to "Maura" for this doll, for unknown reasons. Not shown are Tee-Time Dawn and Macy, but the patterns of tee-shirts is consistent. You can guess that Dawn's tees would be in blue, and Macy's in pink.

The dolls' hair is streaked with tinsel of the appropriate color.
Checkerboard initially produced eight fashions in small, clear and turquoise plastic boxes. These became known as the "Play Line" fashions for the new "Play Line" Dawn dolls (Dawn, Macy, Denise and Shannon/Maura).
However, Checkerboard soon went into re-organization, becoming first Creatoyvity, and then Toy-O-Rama.
The original eight fashions were increased to twelve, re-packaged in black blister packs, and sold under the name "Fab Fashion Fun". The twelve fashions were broken down into three groups: "High School Cool", "Groovy Glam" and "Fun Formals".
The four fashions shown below which were NOT released initially in the little blue boxes were
"Seeing Spots", "Cubism", "Purpledelic", and "Fringe Benefits".
