One of the most confusing things about the Diana doll is just who made her? One company, Day-Fran, sold re-packaged Dawn and Pippa dolls and fashions under the Diana name. But there are at least two other versions of Diana which were sold at about the same time, wearing liquidated Topper fashions, and in some cases using liquidated Topper dolls. These boxes have no manufacturer name on them.
For the purposes of identification, I have labeled them (as nearly as I can figure) as "first-issue", "second-issue" or "Day-Fran" Diana dolls.
Below you can see the differences in the three.
Diane produced by Day-Fran
Second-issue Diana
First-issue Diana
First-issue Diana dolls used the H17 Longlocks headmold, painted with forward-facing blue eyes and no lashes. She was rooted in brunette, auburn, redhead and blonde.
The Diana dolls manufactured by Day-Fran used liquidated Topper stock, both in dolls and fashions, and often used Lesney or Pippa dolls as well.
Second-issue Diana dolls have no headmold and have lashless, forward-facing blue eyes. The two I have are strawberry blonde, but I have no reason to believe other hair colors weren't available.
The first- and second-issue Diana dolls have similar body-styles to Dawn, with the same slanted, twist-and-turn waist. Diana's legs are solid plastic, however, and do not bend. The first-issue dolls are marked simply "Made in Hong Kong" on their backs, but the second-issue dolls have no markings at all.

Below are the three packaged Diana dolls for which I have photos. The first-issue was sold in a box similar to Dawn, with a park scene in the background. Diana may or may not have a poodle, schautzer, or terrier-type of dog with her. First-issue dolls were often sold in liquidated Topper fashions, such as "Striped Splendor" below, or perhaps a RockFlower fashion, like Lilac's mod-print mini without the tights. Second-issue Dianas were also sold in boxes, but with no graphics beyond the "Diana" logo at the top. A dog may or may not be included. The second-issue Diana shown below is wearing a mini that was sold on Dandee's "Fashion World" dolls.
Day-Fran produced Diana dolls in blister packs, usually sold with liquidated Topper Dawn or Palitoy Pippa fashions.
This Diana, above is shown wearing a recently discovered, never-produced Topper fashion called "Tea For Two".
Also notice the change in the logo-typeface. All Day-Fran Dianas were sold with this logo.
Below are two packaged Day-Fran Diana dolls. However, the one on the right is obviously a repackaged Pippa doll, while the one on the left appears to be yet another clone doll (possibly a Lesney doll) sold under the Diana name.
