Jeanie dolls were made in the 1970's and sold through S.S. Kresge department stores (Kresge's later became K-Mart). Jeanie towers over other miniature fashion dolls, standing a whopping 7-1/2" tall. This would be the equivalent of a person who is only five feet tall standing next to someone who is a full six feet in height.

Jeanie dolls have rooted hair, but not rooted eyelashes. Their facial features are painted on. The bodies are a lighter-weight plastic with flexible vinyl arms and heads. They have a twist-n-turn waist, and heartbreakingly huge hips. The legs have interior wires, but they do not hold a pose very well. They are marked simply "Made in Hong Kong" on their backs.

Below, for comparison, you can see the difference in height between Jeanie and Dawn.
Jeanie dolls came packaged on a blister pack which showed other fashions available separately. The doll herself wore only a one-piece swimsuit with shoes and came with a plastic and metal rod doll stand.

Jeanie came in blonde, brunette and redhead. I have not seen, nor do I know, if any African-American Jeanie dolls were ever made.
