Tina Mod dolls, made by Replitoy, were "clones" of both Topper and Mego dolls. Some packaged Tina Mod dolls have the P17 Longlocks headmold, and others use the Mego Dizzy Girl headmold. There is at least one other I have seen that I cannot positively identify as being a Dizzy Girl head, but if she isn't, she's very close.
Tina Mod dolls came on standard, hollow plastic bodies marked simply "Hong Kong" on their backs. They have a straight-across twist-n-turn waist, with rubbery arms and hollow plastic legs that do not bend. One telling feature about the Tina Mod doll, that can help you determine if she's a transplanted head on a clone body, is the lack of rooted eyelashes. Both Mego's Dizzy Girl and Topper's Longlocks had rooted eyelashes. In addition, Longlocks only came with long, auburn hair. Some Tina Mod dolls using the Longlocks headmold have been rooted in blonde or a brighter red. There is also a brunette bubble-cut Tina Mod doll, and when rooted in long hair she will most likely not have bangs, as the Mego Dizzy Girl has.
Though separate fashions were sold for Tina Mod by Replitoy, many were re-packs of liquidated Topper stock, as you will see below. Many more were sold exclusively on the doll. In addition, much of the packaging is similar to a German company, Puppenhaus-Wensco, which sold similar dolls and fashions under the "Mammy" name.
There is also an unknown company that manufactured a "Bianca" doll, again with similar faces, fashions and packaging; this doll was sold in Europe, and was probably Italian, based on the doll's name, Bianca. |

The next set of dolls all use a Topper Longlocks headmold. It may be H17, K17 or P17; without having one to open up, it's difficult to be sure. One thing is certain, however: these dolls were not as nicely made as Longlocks, and their hair is generally rooted only at the top of their heads, not all over. In addition, like the Dizzy Girl faces above, they have no rooted eyelashes. But you will find Tina Mod "Longlocks" dolls in every possible hair color, while Longlocks herself only ever had her characteristic long auburn hair. |
